As soon as you have installed the personalizer app on your store, you will be redirected to a simple Setup Guide that we have created where you will see a step-by-step guide on how to customize your Checkout page.
Step 1: Upgrade to Checkout Extensibility
To begin, ensure your Checkout page is upgraded to Checkout Extensibility. Click on the “Shopify Checkout settings” button and upgrade if necessary.
Step 2: Open your Checkout Editor
Navigate to Shopify Checkout Editor where you can add, remove and customize your Checkout page for your customers.
Step 3: Add App Blocks
To enhance your checkout page with Personalizer components, click on the “Add App Block” button located at the bottom left of your Checkout Editor. You can add Product Recommendations and/or Line Item Recommendations.
Product Recommendations
In order to make the shopping journey more personal for your customer, add automatic Product Recommendations to drive more sales.
If you want your customers to see a couple of product recommendations before filling out the contact and delivery details, this is the app block to add.
Block Title: Label of the block/box.
Recommendation Type: The type of box that will be added which affects the products to be displayed. You can select from the boxes that Personalizer has (Trending, Most Popular, Upsell, Cross-sell, New Arrivals, Bought Together, Related Items).
Collection: If you want to add a specific collection, you can add the Shopify Collection ID. If you want to include all collections, just leave this space blank. Please note that only Most Popular, Trending, and New Arrivals collections are included.
Fallback & Fallback Collection: If there is no applicable item from the Recommendation type you chose, this collection will be displayed instead. You can also choose to hide the app block completely if there is no applicable item to be displayed.
Number of Items: How many products are displayed at a time. The default is this app block will display 3 products at a time.
Add to Cart Button Text: Label of your ATC button. The default is “Add”.
Style: How your products will look like. Choose between rows (horizontally) or columns (vertically).
Line Item Recommendations
Encourage last-minute additions to the cart by adding the Line Item Recommendations app block. This feature highlights products that complement items already in the cart, such as Subscription Offers, Upsell, and Cross-sell. Line Item Recommendations help customers discover items they might have missed.

A Free Shipping Bar entices shoppers to add more items to their cart to reach a specific amount and qualify for free shipping.
Free Shipping Threshold: The total amount of the product(s) to be purchased in order to get free shipping.
Below Threshold Message: The actual message displayed on your banner to entice customers to reach the minimum amount for free shipping.
Over Threshold Message: Once the minimum amount has been reached via the total amount of items added to the cart, this message will be displayed inside the shipping bar.
Trust-Building Elements
Building trust during the checkout process is crucial to reducing cart abandonment and increasing conversions. Personalizer app offers several trust-building elements that you can easily integrate into your checkout and post-purchase flows.
Here’s how to use these elements to enhance customer confidence:
1. Trust Badges
Trust badges are visual symbols that reassure customers of the security and reliability of your store. These can include SSL certificates, secure payment icons, and money-back guarantees.
Where to Add: You can place trust badges on your checkout page, typically near the payment information fields, to provide customers with peace of mind as they complete their purchase.
2. Payment Icons
Displaying the logos of accepted payment methods is a simple yet effective way to build trust. Customers feel more secure when they see familiar payment options.
Where to Add: Add payment icons on your checkout page, ideally near the payment method selection.
How to Set Up: Include popular payment icons such as Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, etc., through your customization settings.
3. Customer Testimonials
Showcasing positive feedback from previous customers can greatly influence new buyers. Testimonials serve as social proof that reinforces trust in your products and services.
Where to Add: Place customer testimonials on your post-purchase page or within a banner on the checkout page.
How to Set Up: Add a testimonials section through the banner customization options or by embedding them directly in the checkout page.
4. Banners
Banners are a versatile tool for communicating key messages, such as free shipping offers, discounts, or trust-related messages (e.g., "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed").
Where to Add: Use banners at the top of your checkout page or within the post-purchase flow to highlight these messages.
How to Set Up: Customize banners in the checkout settings to include relevant messaging and visuals.
5. Call to Action
A clear and compelling call to action (CTA) is essential for guiding customers toward completing their purchase. The title, subtitle, and content of your CTA should align with your brand voice and reinforce trust.
Where to Add: Place your CTA prominently on the checkout page, ensuring it’s visible and easy to understand.
How to Set Up: Customize your CTA text within the checkout settings. Make sure it’s direct, action-oriented, and reassuring (e.g., “Complete Your Purchase Securely”).
