LimeSpot credits a sale when a shopper found the product they bought through LimeSpot, for example by clicking it in a recommendation box. Knowing how this works helps you read your Analytics and explain why the numbers differ from your store platform's reports.

Credit is given per product, not per order
LimeSpot looks at each product in an order separately. One order can contain products credited to LimeSpot and products credited to standard navigation.
For example, a shopper buys three products. They found two of them in a "Frequently Bought Together" box and the third through your store's menu. LimeSpot gets credit for the two products, and the third counts as standard navigation.
How a product gets credited
LimeSpot records each time a shopper views a product or adds it to the cart, and where that happened: a LimeSpot box or campaign, or your store's standard navigation.
When an order comes in from your store platform, LimeSpot matches each purchased product to that shopper's earlier views and add-to-carts of the same product.
LimeSpot picks one touch to credit:
A touch from LimeSpot wins over standard navigation.
Among LimeSpot touches, the most recent one generally wins. This is called last-touch attribution.
The Recently Viewed box only gets credit when no other LimeSpot source touched the product.
If that touch happened inside your attribution window, the product is credited to LimeSpot and to the box or campaign the touch came from.
Last touch, explained
Say a shopper clicks a product in a "Most Popular" box, comes back later and clicks the same product in a "Recently Viewed" box, then clicks it again in a "New Arrivals" box before buying. LimeSpot credits the sale once, to "New Arrivals", the most recent box. It doesn't count three sales.
The attribution window
The attribution window is how long after a LimeSpot touch a purchase can still be credited to LimeSpot.
If the shopper buys within the window, the product counts as LimeSpot.
If the shopper buys after the window closes, the product counts as Standard.
The default window is 7 days. If your store needs a different window, contact [email protected] to ask for a change.
The three sources
Source | What it means |
LimeSpot | The product was found through a LimeSpot box, Smart Image, Smart Block, bundle discount, email widget or SMS link within the attribution window |
Standard | The shopper bought the product without a LimeSpot touch, or the LimeSpot touch was outside the window |
Unknown | LimeSpot has no record of the shopper viewing the product before buying, for example orders from marketplaces or apps LimeSpot can't track, or orders placed before you installed LimeSpot |
Unknown sales are left out of Analytics totals.
How revenue is counted
Revenue is the product's price times quantity, as your store platform reports it.
Net sales is revenue minus refunds and discounts.
Tax and shipping aren't included.
Why LimeSpot's numbers differ from your platform's
LimeSpot counts products, while most store reports count orders.
Unknown sales aren't in LimeSpot's totals, so Total Net Sales in Analytics is usually lower than your platform's sales.
Tax and shipping are left out.
Orders where LimeSpot can't identify the shopper aren't counted.
Tip
For the most complete picture, make sure LimeSpot is live on your published theme. LimeSpot can only credit products shoppers viewed while it was running.
Troubleshooting
You see | Why | What to do |
LimeSpot revenue is $0 | No LimeSpot touches matched purchases in the range | Try a longer date range and make sure your boxes are published |
Total Net Sales is lower than your platform's report | Unknown sales, tax and shipping are left out | No action needed |
A sale you expected isn't credited | The purchase came after the attribution window, or the shopper wasn't identified | Contact [email protected] with the order number |
