How LimeSpot calculate the unique daily visitors and sessions

Learn how LimeSpot calculates the unique daily visitors and sessions under the Audience section in the analytics.

Updated over 3 months ago

The Unique Visitors and Sessions counts can be found at the bottom of Analytics > Overview, in the Audience section.

Unique Visitors

Unique Visitors corresponds to the number of unique visitors that visit your store per day. E.g. If someone visits the store today, they will be counted as 1 unique visitor for today. If they visit tomorrow, they will count as the unique visitor for tomorrow. Therefore, the stats for today and tomorrow, this visitor would count as 2 unique visitors.

Merging user ids

Our system uses a user-merge mechanism when an anonymous user logs into a store. For instance, of someone starts browsing before logging in to the website, they will be accounted as a new daily visitor with a unique user id (let's say "1"). After they login, they will be assigned another user id (we'll use "2"). Our system then merges the 2 user ids to represent it as a single visitor for the purpose of user history and analytics.

Any person who logs in to our app via app.limespot.com is counted as a unique daily visitor and session as well.

Sessions

Sessions represent the number of sessions of the unique daily visitor. This number will always be greater than or equal to the number of daily visitors. The users' sessions always expires after 30 minutes of inactivity.
