AI and your store data

What the LimeSpot Assistant reads, where it's processed, how long it's kept, and what stays in your control.

The LimeSpot Assistant needs to see your store to personalize it. This article explains what it reads, who processes it and how long it's kept, so you can use AI in Studio with confidence.

What the AI reads when it sets up or optimizes your store

During AI onboarding, page optimization and page suggestions, the Assistant looks at your storefront the way a shopper does:

  • Screenshots of your store pages at desktop and mobile width.

  • The page's content and layout, read from the page as it loads in the browser.

During onboarding it reads your Home, Product, Collection, Cart and Search pages. When you optimize a page or ask for a suggestion, it reads the page you're on. It never reads your store admin, customer account pages or checkout.

It does not read your product catalog, order history or how individual shoppers browse your store.

Your shoppers' personal data stays private. LimeSpot is GDPR compliant, and the Assistant doesn't see your shoppers' private or personal data, such as names, email addresses, addresses or payment details.

If your store is password-protected, you type the password yourself inside the preview. Your passwords and sign-in details are never passed to the AI.

What the AI reads when you chat

  • The messages you type.

  • Your current draft's recommendation box setup.

  • Any item you attached to the chat, such as a campaign, segment or metric. Remove the chip above the message box to stop including it.

  • Store data it looks up to answer you: order count, revenue, average order value and conversion rate totals, your audience segments and campaigns, and your store setup (store name, platform, industry, currency and which boxes are on each page).

What the Assistant can look up depends on the permissions of the admin who's signed in. Performance questions need access to reports.

Before you publish

Messages are sent to the AI as written. Personal details aren't removed first, so don't paste customer names, emails or other personal details into the chat.

Who processes it

LimeSpot's AI features run on Anthropic's Claude models. LimeSpot's AI service providers are listed as sub-processors in LimeSpot's data processing agreement. For details, read the LimeSpot Privacy Policy.

How long it's kept

Data

Kept

Screenshots and page content sent to the AI

Up to 30 days with the AI provider

Studio's reading of your store from onboarding

14 days, so Studio doesn't have to read your store again right away

Your Assistant conversations

Stored by LimeSpot and visible to every admin of your store

What stays in your control

  • Nothing goes live without you. The Assistant only changes your draft. Shoppers see changes only after you click Save and then Publish.

  • You can stop onboarding. Skip setup ends AI onboarding and throws away what it prepared.

  • Connections are optional. Connecting Google Ads during onboarding is optional. You can skip it and connect later.

  • Your analytics stay clean. Pages viewed in Studio, including the pages the AI reads, don't count as shopper visits.

Growth Grader

The free Growth Grader also sends screenshots of your store pages to LimeSpot's AI to write its report. It runs from the LimeSpot Growth Grader browser extension and changes nothing on your store. See Run a free Growth Grader audit.
