Try a change, and if you don't like it, take it back. Studio keeps a history of your edits so you can undo and redo them, and a few keyboard shortcuts cover the actions you use most.

Undo and redo
Click the undo arrow in the top bar (Undo), or press ⌘+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows).
To bring the change back, click the redo arrow (Redo), or press ⌘+Shift+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+Z (Windows).
The buttons are greyed out when there's nothing to undo or redo.
How the history works:
Studio keeps up to 50 steps.
Quick edits to the same setting, such as typing a title, count as one step.
Everything you change while a drawer is open counts as one step once you close it. While the drawer is still open, undo steps through the edits you made inside it.
Undo only affects your working changes. It doesn't undo a Publish. To go back to what's live, use Discard Changes. See Save, publish, discard and unpublish changes.
Undo history isn't saved. Click Save (or press ⌘+S) often, so your work is kept if you exit Studio or reload the page.
Tip
If your browser window is narrow, Undo and Redo move into the More controls menu (⋯) under History. The keyboard shortcuts still work.
Keyboard shortcuts
On Windows, use Ctrl wherever this table shows ⌘.
Shortcut | What it does |
⌘+S | Saves your draft. Only works when you have unsaved changes. Replaces the browser's own "Save Page As" while Studio is open. |
⌘+Z | Undoes your last edit. In a text field with nothing for Studio to undo, it undoes your typing instead. |
⌘+Shift+Z | Redoes the last undone edit. |
⌘+K | Opens or closes the element search and puts your cursor in it. |
Esc | Closes whatever is on top, one layer at a time. For example, it cancels a move or closes the menu. When nothing else is open, it clears your selection. |
While Studio is open, its shortcuts take priority over your theme's own shortcuts.
Find shortcuts in the product
Hover over a top-bar button to see its shortcut in the tooltip, for example "Search (⌘+K)" or "Redo (⌘+Shift+Z)".
Troubleshooting
You see | Why | What to do |
⌘+S does nothing | There are no unsaved changes | Nothing to save. |
Undo is greyed out after you switched pages | Switching pages loads a new page, which starts a new undo history | Change the setting back by hand, or use Discard Changes to return to what's live. Click Save before you switch pages so your work is kept. |
