Save, publish, discard and unpublish changes

Learn how your edits move from your browser to your saved draft to your live store, and how to undo a publish.

Nothing you do in Studio reaches shoppers until you click Publish. That means you can try ideas freely, save them as a draft, and take them live only when you're happy.

Any edit you make, including changes the LimeSpot Assistant makes for you

Publish

Working changes survive a page reload and page switches in the same tab. They're lost if you exit Studio or close the tab without saving.

Save your draft

  1. Click Save in the top bar, or press ⌘+S (Mac) or Ctrl+S (Windows).

  2. You see Settings saved.

Save is only active when you have unsaved changes. When a drawer or the Settings panel is open, the top bar is dimmed; use the Save button inside the drawer or panel instead. It saves to the same draft.

Publish to your live store

  1. Click Publish in the top bar.

  2. In Publish Changes, read "Publish all pending changes? This will make them live on your store." and click Publish.

  3. You see Changes published successfully.

You don't need to save first. Publish saves your working changes, then takes them live. If you see "Nothing to publish — your draft matches what is live.", your store is already up to date.

Before you publish

Publishing makes your changes visible to shoppers. Check your pages in Studio first, including Mobile View.

Note

If you run A/B tests, Studio edits one experience at a time. Save and Publish only affect the experience shown in the top bar. Other experiences aren't touched.

Check your live status

The light next to Publish shows your store's state. Hover over it to read the status:

Light

Tooltip

Green

"Live — your store is published and in sync"

Amber

"Off — no published customizations on your storefront yet"

Amber

"Off — you have unpublished changes; publish to take them live"

Grey

"Publish state unavailable — your configuration could not be loaded. Reload Studio to try again."

The light reflects what's saved on LimeSpot's servers. If you have unsaved edits in your tab, Publish stays active even when the light is green.

Discard changes

Use this to throw away everything you haven't published and go back to what's live.

  1. Click the arrow next to Publish (Publish options).

  2. Choose Discard Changes.

  3. Click Discard changes to confirm.

This removes your working changes and your saved draft. It can't be undone.

Unpublish

Use this to remove your LimeSpot customizations from your live store while keeping your draft.

  1. Click the arrow next to Publish.

  2. Choose Unpublish.

  3. Click Unpublish to confirm. You see "Unpublished — storefront customizations removed".

To bring everything back, click Publish again.

Exiting with unsaved changes

If you click Exit Studio with unsaved changes, Studio asks you to confirm. Click Exit only if you're ready to lose them. Your saved draft is kept.
